ADDITIONAL HOME CARE - CHILDREN'S DENTAL TREATMENT
- NUMBNESS: Your child's lip, cheek, and tongue may stay numb for 2–4 hours. Watch your child closely so they do not bite, suck, or chew the numb area. This can cause a painful sore.
- FOOD: Give only liquids or very soft food until the numbness is gone.
- FLUORIDE: After fluoride, no eating or drinking for 30 minutes.
- CROWNS AND SPACE MAINTAINERS: Avoid sticky foods and candy (gum, caramel, gummies). They can pull off a crown or space maintainer.
- TOOTH REMOVED: Have your child bite on the gauze for 30 minutes. No straws, spitting, or rinsing hard today.
- NERVE TREATMENT (PULPOTOMY): Some soreness for a day or two is normal. Children's Tylenol or Motrin can help — follow the label dose for your child's age and weight.
- CALL US: If a crown or space maintainer comes off, there is swelling, fever, or a sore from biting that looks worse, call the office at 661-857-7662.
